A new month brings new updates on what is currently going on in the world of Fruit and Vegetables. A challenging time for sure on the Salads front as Spain has experienced terribly poor weather in some regions. Unusually the UK is looking warmer than Spain at the moment which is rare! Heavy rainfall and flooding has damaged the majority of crops leaving availability short on a number of key lines.
On top of this we are transitioning salad seasons from Spanish to Dutch so inevitably quality and price can also be tricky during this time. Peppers (all colours), Tomatoes (all varieties), Iceberg, Cos and Gem Lettuce are the most impacted as it currently stands. We are working closely with suppliers to navigate this situation as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Easter weekend is coming up and we will be operating a reduced delivery service due to market closures on certain days (please see schedule below). Don’t forget St George’s Day is also on 23rd April so we will be celebrating all things English Produce with Asparagus and Strawberries as a key favourite and highlight from mid-month :
